Student ReporterJa’Maya Clark is a freshman at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, where she is majoring in Pre-Nursing and participating in the Honors Program. Born in Fort Worth, Texas, and raised in Tensas Parish, Louisiana, she graduated as the Valedictorian of Tensas High School’s Class of 2024.
Her academic achievements and dedication to excellence have shaped her drive to pursue a career in healthcare. Ja’Maya is passionate about nursing because of her strong desire to help others and her belief in the importance of compassionate care. After earning her degree, she plans to become a registered traveling nurse, allowing her to serve diverse communities while making a meaningful impact in patient care.
Ja’Maya enjoys spending her downtime traveling, volunteering, and spending quality time with her family. She values opportunities that allow her to grow personally and professionally, and she is eager to build connections that align with her future career goals. Through her position with 90.3 KEDM, Ja’Maya looks forward to developing professional skills, gaining real-world experience, and contributing to her campus community. She is excited to use this opportunity as a foundation for both personal growth and preparation for her career in healthcare.

Deputies with the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office Special Crimes Apprehension Team (SCAT) and METRO Narcotics arrested a West Monroe man following an investigation into illegal drug distribution. The suspect was found in possession of multiple controlled dangerous substances, including heroin and fentanyl, and was booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center.

Trevoy is described as approximately 5 feet tall, weighing around 95 pounds, with a distinctive birthmark on the left side of his face above the lip. Authorities thank the public for their assistance and ask that the family’s privacy be respected.
