Student ReporterOriginally from Mansfield, Texas, David is a student athlete at the University of Louisiana Monroe. He is a senior communications major, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree. He is also a member of the university's football team and will complete his final year in the fall of 2025.
David graduated from Mansfield High School in 2021, where he was on numerous honor roll lists, and received the school's Principal Award for being the most outstanding student. He also competed in football, basketball, as well as track and field, earning multiple All-District honors. He received multiple scholarship offers but signed with ULM after his senior season.
David is really big on foundation, family, integrity, and service. He enjoys serving the community, participating in activities such as providing Thanksgiving meals to the homeless, and Special Olympics sports events. He hopes to continue to serve others and aims to be an example for people coming behind him.
After graduation, David will pursue a career in sports media through broadcasting, journalism, or radio talk show host. He hopes to be able to share his knowledge of sports with the world but also learn the best ways to interact with his viewers/listeners.
In his free time, David enjoys spending time with family and friends, listening to music, watching movies, playing golf, and working out.

Bayou Discovery Camps to host STEAM summer camps for students in grades 2nd through 5th. The camps offer fun and engaging learning activities and aim to develop students' critical thinking skills.

The city of Monroe held a Rivermarket in downtown. The community was able to come out by the riverside and support local businesses.

Monroe Symphony Orchestra cancels rock symphony that was set for May 3 due to lack of funding. The orchestra is determined to produce more shows, and have brought in a new conductor.

Strauss Theater Center will hold its final shows of Grease from May 9-11. The main stage production features timeless energy and iconic dances from the 1950's.

Mabry "Doc" Savage will receive a historical marker from the Northeast Louisiana Music Trail, in his hometown of Marion, Louisiana. The marker honors his work as a musician, teacher, and luthier.

On Kentucky Derby weekend, Louisiana Delta Community College is bringing Churchill Downs to Monroe. The even features a silent auction, alcohol tastings, a photo booth, and a fashion contest

Josh Madden Productions will host a Rolling Stones tribute of May 2. The title will be What You Need, and the show will feature 60 musicians and over 20 acts.

The city of West Monroe held their annual Riverfest fundraiser from April 24-27. The event included a six-story tall inflatable duck, rubber duck race, food trucks, live music, car show, and more.

Leon "Pee Wee" Whitaker will receive a marker from the Northeast Louisiana Music Trail. The marker will honor him as a musician, and the impact he had on northeast Louisiana.
