City of Monroe held a Rivermarket sale this past Saturday, May 10 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event was held in downtown, on the riverside across from the Ouachita Parish Courthouse.
One day before Mother's Day, the Rivermarket gave the public an opportunity to grab a special gift for their mother. The event was also a chance for the community to support local businesses.
Bayou Stork, Black Bear Books, The Good Daze were just a few of the local businesses in attendance. The handmade market also featured food trucks and vendors.
Nirali Patel, the main street director for the city of Monroe, talks about the commitment of local businesses.
"This is their full time," she says. "They dedicate a lot of time and energy to make things from scratch."
The city of Monroe also has exciting events planned for the summer, including fireworks on the river and an annual block party.
Construction is also taking place in downtown Monroe to beautify the city and help to further ensure public safety.
