City of Monroe to host 'State of the City' address

The City of Monroe is gearing up for its State of the City Event, scheduled for Friday, July 11, 2025, at 6:00 PM in the Jack Howard Theater. Mayor Friday Ellis will take the stage to deliver a comprehensive update on the city’s progress, priorities, and future vision.

The event will feature presentations from various city department heads and community leaders. There will also be performances by local talents, including spoken word poet Larry Bell, Jr. and his son Justus Bell.

Doors will open at 5:00 PM for a special pre-event reception, where guests can enjoy live music by local artist Robert Wright and a selection of light hors d'oeuvres.

The State of the City event is free and open to the public. For those unable to attend in person, the entire program will be live-streamed on the official City of Monroe Facebook page.
