Louisiana Delta Community College to host 4th annual Hats and Horses fundraiser

Louisiana Delta Community College is bringing Churchill Downs to Monroe with their 4th annual Hats and Horses fundraiser.

The fundraiser will be on Saturday May 3 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. It will take place at the ATC Community Auditorium on the Monroe campus of Louisiana Delta Community College.

On the weekend of the Kentucky Derby, the public is invited to enjoy all of the festivities associated with the derby. They can enjoy derby cuisine, a mint julep bar, bourbon pull, and bourbon tasting.

Along with the food and beverages, there will also be the signature hat and fashion contest, with prizes going out to the best-dressed attendees. A silent auction will also occur, where items such as a trip to Las Vegas or The Master's golf tournament are up for grabs.

Louisiana Delta will be live streaming the Kentucky Derby, and a photo booth to capture memories of the occasion will also be provided.

Frank Bennett, the director of the Hats and Horses fundraiser, talks about his excitement for the event, especially the fashion aspect.

"Bring your seersucker, bring your big hat," Bennett says. "Look good, feel good, we're going to have a great time."

All proceeds of the event are going towards scholarships and support of programs that will assist students at LDCC.

Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are available at https://e.givesmart.com/events/GgR/.
