West Monroe hosted their annual Riverfest fundraiser from April 24-27. The four-day community event included food trucks, live music, car shows, a rubber duck race, and even a six-story tall inflatable duck.
The six-story tall inflatable duck, affectionately known as "Mama Duck," was displayed on the grassy lot on Commerce Street in downtown West Monroe. In various portions of the weekend, Mama Duck could be seen from the interstate, and even in parts of Monroe.
Another festivity of the fundraiser was the duck drop race. People from around the community were able to adopt a select number of rubber ducks, and win prizes based on where their duck(s) finished.
Prices for ducks started at $10 and increased based on your selected package. Roughly 5,000 ducks were dropped by the Endom Bridge and raced down the Ouachita River.
Adrienne Lafrance-Wells, the director for downtown West Monroe, talked about the impact of this event on the community. "All of the funds that are raised go right back into community projects for downtown," she voices.
The community was able to enjoy a weekend of art vendors, live duck races, kid zones, a foam truck, the world's largest rubber duck, and so much more.
