ULM defensive back D’Arco Perkins-McAllister was voted Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week after a media member panel vote on Sunday (Aug. 31). Perkins-McAllister is the second ULM player to receive Defensive Player of the Week honors in week one, with Wydett Williams Jr. receiving the honor last season.

The Dave Warner Distinguished Service Award is one of APTA Louisiana’s highest honors. It is presented to an individual who has made outstanding professional contributions to APTA Louisiana and who has had a lasting impact on peers, the community, and the profession of physical therapy. The award recognizes not only dedicated service but also the embodiment of leadership, advocacy, and a commitment to advancing the mission of physical therapy in Louisiana.

During the summer camp, the mentees and mentors were divided into teams and the daily schedule included physical well-being activities with Ace the Warhawk, the ULM cheerleaders, and ULM Assistant Director of Wellness Mara Brown. Students also enjoyed hands-on activities, skits, and a guest speaker who reflected on the topic of the day.

The agreement provides a streamlined pathway for students who earn any Associate of Applied Science degree at LDCC to transfer to ULM and complete a Bachelor of Applied Sciences in Organizational Leadership.

Mr. Tianyu Wang dedicated his life to documenting the lives, culture, and voices of the people in Shaanxi Province through photography and journalism. He believed strongly in the power of storytelling to connect communities and inspire change.

The ULM TRIO Program provides comprehensive services which include academic tutoring, financial literacy and aid advice, career exploration and planning, and other forms of assistance. Each year, ULM’s TRIO SSS team works directly with over 140 students and many others indirectly who are low-income, first-generation (those whose parents do not hold a four-year college degree), or students with disabilities. These services and one-on-one interactions enhance academic success and increase the likelihood that students will graduate with the lowest possible debt.

A supplemental appropriations bill (HB 460) included the funding, which was signed into law by Governor Jeff Landry on June 23, 2025. The supplemental funding will go toward the operations of the College of Pharmacy at the University of Louisiana Monroe.

There are two upcoming opportunities for first responders to attend the in-person trainings at Hemphill Hall on the ULM campus. The first sessions will be July 29 and 30, and the second sessions will be August 5 and 6.

Arturo Rodriguez, DM, has been named the next Dean of the ULM College of Business and Social Sciences (CBSS). Rodriguez most recently served as the Director of the William D. Hoover School of Accounting, Financial, and Information Services since July 2019. His appointment as Dean was confirmed by the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors on June 26, 2025.

As scholarship funds become available after tennis student-athletes transfer or graduate, the scholarship funds will be repurposed to other ULM women’s athletic teams.
