Attorneys for the Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil have asked a federal judge to immediately release him on bail, or else transfer him to New Jersey, where he can be closer to his wife and newborn son. The filing comes days after a federal judge ruled that the government can continue to detain the legal U.S. resident based on allegations that he lied on his green card application. Khalil disputes the accusations that he wasn't forthcoming on the application. The judge previously determined that Khalil couldn’t continue being held based on the U.S. secretary of state’s determination that he could harm American foreign policy.

New Orleans jail escapee releases videos, prompting search of home where they were made, source saysA man who identifies himself as New Orleans jail escapee has released videos on social media while still on the run from authorities. A senior law enforcement official says authorities were so convinced the videos were authentic that they searched a home late Monday where they believe escapee Antoine Massey recorded them.

LSU Shreveport is the first college baseball team on record to go unbeaten. The Pilots finished 59-0 when they won the NAIA championship in Lewiston, Idaho, on Friday with a 13-7 victory over Southeastern of Florida. The Pilots have appeared in the NAIA national tournament every year since 2005 and the NAIA World Series in 2021, 2022 and 2025. They’re 270-49 in six seasons under coach Brad Neffendorf. NCAA Division III Trinity of Connecticut held the previous record for winning percentage when it went 45-1 in 2008 for a .978 clip.

New Orleans celebrated the repatriation and burial of the remains of 19 African American people whose skulls had been sent to Germany for racist research practices in the 19th century. On Saturday, a multifaith memorial service and jazz funeral honored their final resting place at the Hurricane Katrina Memorial. The people had passed away between 1871 and 1872 at a hospital in New Orleans, researchers say.

The Southeastern Conference is ratcheting up penalties on schools whose fans storm the field or rush the court, doing away with an escalating fine system and now charging $500,000 per incident. The conference also has the authority to wave the fine if the visiting team and officials are allowed to get to the locker room before fans descend onto the field or court.
