Three times a year, the Monroe Symphony League sponsors its Book Sale. Lightly used books of all genres -- fitction and nonfiction, cookbooks and history, religion and biography, are available. CDs, vinyl and DVDs also are on sale. You'll also find magazines and knick-knacks for the home.

For those who are looking for a custom sheath for their favorite knife: The Union Museum of History and Art will host a hands-on workshop on Saturday, June 13, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Under direction of Ron Butler (aka Buckskin Billy), participants will learn how to make a pattern for a sheath, transfer the pattern to leather, cut, and hand-sew the finished product (without decoration). Each participant will leave with their brand-new leather sheath. Fee is $40. Call to reserve your spot at 318-982-8020 no later than June 10. The museum is located at 211 N. Main Street, Farmerville, LA. This class is another in the museum’s ongoing series of Folkcraft workshops.

Every Tuesday evening, the Jazz Navigators (Adam Ryland, Dan Sumner, Eric Siereveld, Pearson Cross) play jazz from 6-8 pm at the Flying Tiger. Joining the Navigators each week will be special guests. The last Tuesday of the each month is the "Jazz Jam," where jazz students and practitioners join the band on selected tunes.
