Monroe, Louisiana -- Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, The “Mighty” Southern Region is hosting its Louisiana State Workshop on November 14 and November 15, 2025 at the University of Louisiana Monroe, The Hangar and Student Center, located on 201 Bayou Drive, Monroe, Louisiana 71209.
Strengthening the Sisterhood, Elevating the Bond is aligned with Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated efforts to address and bring awareness to social determinants in Louisiana. The Louisiana State Workshop will educate sorority members on civic engagement and present its adopt-the-school project.
Associate Professor Angela A. Allen-Bell, Southern University Law Center B.K. Agnihotri Endowed Professor, is the keynote speaker on November 15, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. Professor Allen-Bell’s topic is The Extraordinary Power of She: Beyond the Vote to identify the current needs that await beyond the ballot, such as knowledge of other political rights (i.e. the jury box, public office), and share specific examples of how we can continue to work after the ballot is cast.
Louisiana State Director Carmelita B. Roberts, in support of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated Zeta-Helping Other People Excel program, will present to Roy N. Shelling Elementary School and Swayze Elementary School leadership Operation Cozy Steps on November 15, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. Operation Cozy Steps is the state workshop’s adopt-a-school project to provide winter outerwear to children whose parents cannot afford to purchase them.

Presented by the ULM Humanities Institute, "Societies Shaped by an Ocean: The Atlantic World" explores the ways in which the Atlantic has been a highway for the exchange of ideas, institutions, and cultures among the lands that border it.
The Humanities Institute would like to invite you and your students to join us for the upcoming Atlantic World Series. Our first session will be a presentation by Dr. Roger Carpenter on the formation of the Atlantic World, which will take place on Tuesday, October 28, at 3:30 pm in Sandel 236. Choosing the right plan can be a daunting task and we’d like to offer not only expertise but assistance.
