It’s Spring Fever Week at ULM

It’s time for the University of Louisiana Monroe’s annual Spring Fever Week, Monday, April 8 through Friday, April 12. The week of activities, games, contests, food and performances is sponsored by the ULM Campus Activities Board.

A highlight of Spring Fever Week will be the live comedy performance of DeRay Davis and Jay Pharoah at 7 p.m., Thursday, April 11 at Fant-Ewing Coliseum. Tickets are: students — $10 general admission, $15 floor seating and for the public — $20 general admission, $25 floor seating. Tickets can be purchased at ulm.edu/concert.

The economic driver of many small communities is too often its university. A group of local businessmen came up with a progressive idea over coffee. The proposal is to build a better economic base for Ouachita Parish in hopes to better the quality of life, provide strong occupational assets, offer superb healthcare, and an educated work force.

ULM President, Dr. Nick Joseph Bruno, explains how the University of Louisiana at Monroe could help establish Ouachita Parish as a premiere cultural and research community.

Caleb Evans threw for 346 yards and two touchdowns and scored the game-winner late on the ground and FBS Louisiana-Monroe avoided an upset bid against FCS Southeastern Louisiana 34-31 Thursday night.

The final act of this year’s special session trilogy is less than a week away, with the administration and many legislators scrambling to find some extra cash for programs like TOPS, which is facing a 30 percent cut.
