Louisiana Tech

For the second straight week, Louisiana Tech had its upcoming football game postponed on Thursday. Last week it was a COVID issue with the North Texas football team. This time the Bulldogs had to postpone Saturday’s home game against Rice, because of injuries, COVID positive cases, and contact tracing led to one position group that is too thin to field a team.

At 1000 AM CDT, the center of Hurricane Delta was moving
northwestward near 15 mph through open waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
A general northwestward motion with a reduction in forward speed is
expected through early this morning. Delta should continue along
this track today, before speeding up and turning more to the
north-northeast on Friday. The forecast for Delta has not changed
much since last night and is still predicted to make landfall along
the coast of southwestern Louisiana early Friday evening.

Louisiana Tech

Louisiana Tech’s season opener on Saturday versus Baylor has been postponed and the hope is to make up the game later in the season. A report by The News-Star says 38 players on the Tech football team have tested positive for the coronavirus.

Athletics Director Tommy McClelland says power outages from Hurricane Laura forced many of their student-athletes to find other places to stay and that has produced a COVID outbreak within the team. McClelland says the days leading up to this outbreak, the football team had a stretch of three weeks with only one positive case.
