Ruston Art Encounter Christmas walking tour set for Saturday night

On November 26, 2022, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., the streets of Ruston will be filled with the spirit of Christmas. This month’s walking tour of historic downtown Ruston will feature musicians strolling through the streets and local shops. This one-mile walking art trail features over 100 artists.

You can begin your walk at any of the participating businesses. The walking trail maps are located at participating businesses. In addition to showcasing the artist and their work, many of the local businesses have planned events inside so be sure to stop inside the businesses. While you stroll through the streets of Ruston, you will encounter local musicians adding to the festivities.

Everyone is invited to add to the holiday spirit by dressing in your favorite Christmas attire – a period piece or perhaps your ugly Christmas sweater. Upload the picture of you in your Christmas attire on Facebook and/or Instagram @downtownruston. The individuals with the most likes, on either platform, will win a $50 gift card to be used at a downtown Ruston business. Special Christmas menus are planned by local restaurants. The walking tour also includes a local art market, hosted by the North Central Louisiana Arts Council. The Holiday Art Market will be held at Railroad Park and will run from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The kids will love creating art with talented art teacher, Maggie Boudreaux.

A Christmas lighting ceremony will be held in Railroad Park at 6:00 p.m. The event is managed by Friends of Ruston Mainstreet and sponsored by Origin Bank, Century Next Bank, Ruston Cultural District, Driggers Outdoor Advertising, Fine Line Supply, anonymous donors, and Ruston Artisans.
