Heatherly To Lead Monroe Chamber

Monroe- Roy W. Heatherly, a former resident of Monroe, was named as the new president and CEO of the Monroe Chamber today following confirmation by the Monroe Chamber Executive Committee and Board of Directors.

Monroe Chamber Opens Search for New President

The Monroe Chamber of Commerce has announced a nationwide search for its next President/CEO.

The Chamber is accepting resumes from qualified applicants through March 12, 2021 and anticipates announcing the new CEO by mid-April.

The incoming leader will replace current Chamber President Sue Nicholson, who led the organization starting in 2005. Nicholson, who announced her retirement on February 10, will remain on staff through May 31 to assist with the transition.

The "Meet the Candidates" Forum for one of Louisiana's Senate seats was held Tuesday, October 13 at Louisiana Delta Community College.

Candidates made opening statements, answered questions, and made closing statements as to why each can best represent Louisiana in Washington, D.C. The event was moderated by KEDM News and Public Affairs Director Cory Crowe.

The event was broadcast on 90.3FM KEDM Public Radio and stremed online at KEDM.org.

Meet The Candidates Forum Set For October 6

Meet the Candidates for Louisiana's 5th District seat for U.S. Congress on Tuesday, October 6 at Louisiana Delta Community College. The event will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the LDCC Community Room. 

Candidates will each make an opening statement, answer a limited number of questions, and make a closing statement as to why he or she can best represent Louisiana's 5th District in Washington, D.C. The event will be moderated by KEDM News Director Cory Crowe.

KEDM Public Radio and the Monroe Chamber of Commerce held a Meet the Candidates Forum for Monroe City Council, Monday, February 17 at 6 p.m. at the Monroe Civic Center Convention Center. 

Candidates for City Districts 2, 3, 4, and 5 answered a variety of questions before an audience of over 100 people. Questions covered topics relating to Monroe government, including crime, infrastructure, a new casino in Monroe, and more.

All the candidates in each district were in attendance,  and the forum was broadcast live on 90.3 KEDM Public Radio.

The candidates running for mayor of Monroe faced off at the Monroe Chamber of Commerce / KEDM Meet The Candidates Forum. The event was held on February 10 at the Monroe Convention Center. A standing room only crowd was in attendance and the event was aired on 90.3 KEDM Public Radio.

The Monroe Chamber of Commerce is holding a membership drive that will last from Oct. 22-24. Businesses joining the chamber receive so many different business oppurtunities and gain access to a vast networking system.

In order to join the group, the cost is $325 but during the drive the $35 processing fee will be waived. Schools and individuals can join at a lower cost: $100.

Ouachita Parish residents had a chance to meet local candidates at the 90.3 KEDM Public Radio Candidate Forums. KEDM, the Monroe Chamber of Commerce, the West Monroe-West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce and the University of Louisiana at Monroe Student Government Association hosted three Candidate Forums in September. 

The Louisiana Senate Candidate Forum took place Thursday, September 5 at 6 p.m. for Senate Districts 32, 33, and 35 at “The Terrace” 7th Floor Conference Center at the University of Louisiana at Monroe Library.
