The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that the new I-20/Tarbutton Road interchange in Ruston, Lincoln Parish is fully open to traffic.

The $25.5 million project creates a new interstate interchange in addition to a new Tarbutton Road overpass, a reconstructed Tarbutton Road north and south of I-20, and improved traffic flow on adjacent service roads.

New number of COVID-19 cases in Louisiana were released at noon by the Louisiana Department of Health.

The State of Louisiana now has 1,388 cases of COVID-19 and is reporting 46 deaths. 1,852 test have been handled by state labs and 6,751 by private labs. 43 of 64 parishes now have cases.

Ouachita Parish currently has 7 diagnosed cases and 1 death has been reported. 

2 cases have been reported in Lincoln Parish and 1 case has been reported in Richland Parish.

58% of Louisiana cases are in women and 42% are in men.

Hobdy Assembly Center on Grambling State University’s campus. Two  individuals, one non-student and one police officer, were transported to North Louisiana Medical Center to receive care for injuries.

Hot Weather Forces Burn Bans Across Louisiana

The dry weather over the past month has prompted burn bans in many local parishes.

Burn Bans are in effect in these parishes:

  • Caldwell
  • West Carroll
  • Union
  • Franklin
  • LaSalle
  • Lincoln

Under the bans, burning is against the law and you can be subjected to fines and jail time.

Unrestrained Driver Killed In Lincoln Parish Crash

At approximately 1:00 p.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop F began investigating a fatal crash on US Hwy 167 just south of Dubach. This crash took the life of 87-year-old Charles May of Dubach.

The initial investigation by State Police revealed the crash occurred as May was traveling south on US Hwy 167 in a 2006 Buick Lucerne. For reasons unknown, the vehicle traveled off the right side of the road, down a ditch embankment, and rolled over several times. May, who was unrestrained, was ejected.

Longtime Lincoln Parish sports reporter OK Buddy Davis passed away over the weekend at the age of 72. La Tech athletics director Tommy McClelland says Buddy Davis put Louisiana Tech athletics on the map with his stories that he began writing over five decades ago.

Davis also covered Eddie Robinson’s legendary football teams at Grambling State and received criticism for it, because he was a white man reporting on a historically black school.

A shooting incident occurred last night around 9:45 on Grambling State Universty Campus near the basketball courts. A suspect has been arrested. One person was shot in the buttocks and is in stable condition.

This incident is being investigated by the Lincoln Parish police and Grambling police department. Grambling officials say that neither the victim nor the suspect were students of the university. 

Lincoln Parish Emergeny Alerts---Ammonia Pipeline leak in the vinicity of 2629 La. Hwy.

The evacuation took place in Ruston, La. on Sunday, September 17, 2018. It happened on Hwy. 822 near Hwy. 33 in Lincoln parish after an ammonia pipeline began to leak. The Lincoln Parish police department evacuated residents within the immediate area and asked residents withing one mile to shelter in place.

Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards addressed a packed house at the Historic Ruston Fire Station this morning. He announced a new initiave to establish a technology park in Ruston to be anchored by a new campus of Louisiana Delta Community College - Ruston.
