The late Dr. Horace Perry, “H.P.,” Jones started the annual Ides of March poetry reading at the University of Louisiana at Monroe in the mid-1990s. Jones created the event to encourage others to join him in celebrating togetherness, while reading poetry aloud under what has been appropriately named Jones’s sacred tree, located on the north side of Stubbs Hall, near the ULM Student Center.

The Bry Art Gallery at the University of Louisiana at Monroe is currently hosting the 22nd Annual High School Junior/Senior Juried Art Exhibition. The show will run Monday through Thursday 8 a.m.-4:30p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m.-noon beginning February 23. Exhibits will remain open through March 18.

Northern Louisiana high school art students were eligible to submit examples of their studio art endeavors, which were judged by ULM art faculty members based on creativity and mastery of the student’s chosen medium.

A new exhibition at the University of Louisiana at Monroe offers insight into contributions that African culture has made to Western society.

Xiomara Bell, a Tallulah native and master’s student in ULM’s history program, has created an African American History display with Associate Professor of history, Dr. Jeffrey Anderson. The display is now open for viewing in ULM’s Special Collections, located on the 5th floor of the ULM Library.

The display will run throughout the entire month of February.

BestMastersPrograms.org has ranked the University of Louisiana atMonroe’s online masters in counseling program as the number 26 program in the nation on its annual list.

According to the organization’s website, the rankings are designed to help prospective students make a choice about where to invest their time and money in earning their graduate degree.
