Thibodaux, La. – The E.D. White Historic Site will celebrate its 200th anniversary on Saturday, November 15, 2025, with the inaugural Oaks and Origins Festival, hosted by Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser in partnership with the Louisiana State Museum.
The festival honors two centuries of history along Bayou Lafourche, featuring historical demonstrations, folklife exhibits, and heritage displays. Attendees will gain insight into the site’s connections to Louisiana sugarcane cultivation, early Thibodaux history, and the cultural traditions that have shaped the region.
Constructed circa 1825, the E.D. White home served as the residence of Governor Edward Douglas White and his son, Chief Justice Edward Douglass White of the United States Supreme Court, both of whom played pivotal roles in Louisiana’s history.
The bicentennial celebration reflects the culture, resilience, and enduring legacy of Louisiana, inviting the community to engage with the state’s rich heritage through a day of educational and cultural experiences.
