A special legislative committee has been created by Louisiana House Speaker Clay Schexnayder, due to accusations of a cover-up and allegations that the governor was involved in the death of Ronald Greene. Greene was a black man who was beaten to death in 2019 by State Troopers after a high-speed chase that ended in Union Parish.

Governor John Bel Edwards denies that he tried to cover up Greene's death.
