State Police shed new light on fatal Lafourche Parish crash

As part of its ongoing commitment to transparency, the Louisiana State Police (LSP) has released the full crash report, witness statements, and video evidence related to the December 17, 2024, fatal crash on Louisiana Highway 20. A Critical Incident Briefing Video (CIBV) has also been published to provide a clear overview of the investigation and its findings.

The investigation determined that 24 year old Kyren Lacy of Thibodaux was driving a 2023 Dodge Charger at a high rate of speed, illegally passing vehicles in a no passing zone when a chain reaction led to a head on collision between two other vehicles. The crash claimed the life of 78 year old Herman Hall of Thibodaux. Lacy fled the scene without rendering aid.

Following a detailed investigation and review by the Lafourche Parish District Attorney’s Office, an arrest warrant was issued for Lacy on charges of negligent homicide, felony hit and run, and reckless operation of a vehicle. On January 12, 2025, Lacy turned himself in and was booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex.

LSP emphasized its commitment to a thorough, evidence-based investigation and urged the public to rely on official information.
