Union Museum of History and Art will hold a bus tour of Union Parish historic sites and other points of interest on Saturday, April 18 , from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The fee of $40 will include lunch. The tour will begin in Farmerville at the museum, 211 N. Main Street, and continue to Bernice, Spearsville, Marion, and Haile. The 24-passenger tour bus will be provided by First Baptist Church in Farmerville. “Like last year's event, this will be an exciting opportunity to not only share historical facts with locals, but also introduce high points to newcomers,” says Vickie Wheelis, museum director. Local mayors, the Bernice Historical Society, Reeves Memorial Medical Center, and Spearsville Baptist Church will assist in the project. Friends of Black Bayou hosts a free community event celebrating Earth Day, including the Louisiana Plein Air contest, a ribbon-cutting for the new Snake Room in the Conservation Learning Center (at noon), a nature walk, and more!

Bayou Masterworks Chorale, our local community choir directed by Dr. Deborah Chandler, presents a fun and enjoyable way to “Turn The World Around” on Monday, April 20 at 7p in the sanctuary at Northminster Church. A day devoted to gardening on the grounds of ELsong Gardens. This is the 33rd year of welcoming gardening experts to share their expertise with garden lovers across the region. Guests enjoy a day of gardening know-how, a catered lunch by Suffit, and creative inspiration from floral design experts. Topics are regionally focused.

90.3 KEDM, in partnership with the Monroe and West Monroe - West Ouachita Chambers of Commerce and the University of Louisiana Monroe, will host a Meet The Candidates Forum on Friday, April 24 at 6 p.m. The event will be held at the University of Louisiana Monroe Bayou Pointe Event Center. The free event will feature Republican and Democrat candidates for the 5th Congressional District seat.
The event will also be broadcast live on 90.3 KEDM Public Radio on will be streamed live at https://www.kedm.org and on the KEDM Youtube Page. The event will also be streamed by KNOE 8 News at knoe.com.

Lindsay Carraway, noted surrealistic collage artist, will lead a workshop in collage self-portraits on Saturday, April 25, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Union Museum of History and Art . Fee for the class is $40, which will include a wide variety of collage elements and other materials that participants can use. Interested persons should pre-register at 318-982-8020. Class size will be limited. The museum is located at 211 N. Main Street, Farmerville. Carraway’s collage art depicts visions, dreams, and symbols and incorporates images of the South, family, and social commentary. Her work was recently featured in the Masur Museum of Art's 62nd Annual Juried Competition in Monroe, and she was invited to participate in the Blend regional arts event this year. An in-depth interview with Carraway was featured in Bayou Life magazine in 2024 and she has been profiled in Canvas Rebel and other publications.
