I am sometimes approached by young people, often recent college graduates, who want to know if I have any financial tips for someone their age.

If you’re a young college graduate and you’re already thinking about how to be financially responsible, congratulations on separating yourself from the crowd by doing two things most people your age often don’t: seek advice and think ahead.

Whether you are an employer looking for talent, or a student looking for an internship, we all know there are things you can learn in the marketplace that can never be adequately communicated in a classroom or textbook.

So far, so good.

But we have to go a bit deeper than that. If you simply aim at everything, you will inevitably aim at nothing.

A Day of Education

Mar 20, 2017

Wednesday, March 22, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Northeast Louisiana Children's Coalition  will be hosting 'A Day of Education for Educators and Professionals'. This event will be held in the Kitty Degree School of Nursing's auditorium, and will focus on the STI, suicide, and sex trafficking statistics of the area and how being youth friendly can allow students to open up. / The Christopher Youth Center

Young people today face many challenges growing up, and serious problems like poverty, homelessness, abuse and other dire situations can often be difficult to discuss and address.

The Christopher Youth Center works with the national Safe Place organization to help area youths who find themselves in a crisis. In an effort to reach more youth and increase awareness, the two organizations celebrate National Safe Place Week March 20-26.
