October Art Crawl Coming To Downtown Monroe

The Downtown Arts Alliance will host another fun and free Downtown Gallery Crawl on Thursday, October 3rd from 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm. This family-friendly party spans across the downtown areas of both Twin Cities. Come walk through unique art galleries, meet the artists and discuss their work, enjoy refreshments, and be a part of our vibrant community! Original art will be for sale, so come find a piece that speaks to you!

The next installment of the Downtown Gallery Crawl, April 5 from 6-9 p.m., continues to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Crawl. Resident guest artists are on hand to talk with patrons about their art at this free event.

The Downtown Gallery Crawl is an opportunity to check out what local artists of all media are creating. The Downtown Arts Alliance is pulling together nine shows in galleries across the Twin Cities, with live music, food, and drink around every corner. The Crawl is entirely free to any patrons interested in what regional artists have to offer.

The Downtown Art Alliance is continuing their celebration of its 10th Anniversary with new exhibits from artists both local and out of state. The Crawl showcases art from the Northeast Louisiana region, as well as Texas and Missouri.

This Thursday, October 5th, the Downtown Gallery Crawl will be celebrating its 10th Anniversary. This month's crawl will be held 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. across Downtown Monroe and West Monroe at eight different galleries.

This crawl is set to be an exciting one, as a celebration of the gallery crawl's anniversary. Brooke Foy, with the Downtown Gallery Crawl, shares that, "We're trying each crawl to bring a little bit of something special." Some of the special thing lined up are more food trucks than ever and live music.

Despite the summer heat battering the area, The Downtown Arts Alliance continues its mission of promoting art in the community with the Downtown Gallery Crawl on Thursday, August 4 from 5 to 9 p.m.

This month's crawl features eight galleries, and spans across the river to include both downtown Monroe and West Monroe. In addition to countless works of art, patrons can also enjoy food, drink, music, and air conditioning provided by the galleries and local businesses.

The Downtown Gallery Crawl connects the community with local artists and their work. The crawl returns Thursday, April 7. Eight galleries in Downtown Monroe and West Monroe open the doors to the public to enjoy works by many prominent artist. Food and live music from Code Blue and the Flatliners round out the evening.

"After what our community has been through we are just really excited just to get out and host an absolutely free event for both cities to enjoy," says Downtown Arts Alliance President Kelsea McCrary.

The Downtown Gallery Crawl stitches together both downtown Monroe and West Monroe and offers the public a chance to interact with local art and artist. Held every even numbered month throughout the year, this month's event encompasses eight galleries and contains exhibits in all types of media.  

Ben Hickey, curator of collections and exhibitions at the Masur Museum of Art, stresses the importance of art in today's society, "Art really helps to connect the dots. It helps to understand your world."


Special exhibits and singing guests are featured in a Downtown Gallery Crawl Thursday.

Seven galleries in Monroe and West Monroe open their doors after hours in the special event to kick off summer.  "It's about advancing the arts and the development of the downtown districts of Monroe and West Monroe," says Ann Bloxom-Smith, communications consultant for the Downtown Arts Alliance.
