ULM Presidential Search Committee Names 3 Finalists

The University of Louisiana System has announced that the finalist interviews and board meeting will take place Thursday, September 3.

The University of Louisiana at Monroe Presidential Search committee has named three finalists for the job of ULM President. The committee named finalists Dr. Ronald Berry, Dr. Jeannine Kahn, and Dr. Katrice Albert. 

Dr. Berry is the dean of the College of Business and Social Sciences at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Dr. Kahn is the provost and vice president for Academic Affairs at the University of Louisiana System Dr. Albert is executive vice president of S2A Solutions.

The search committee returned Thursday afternoon to Bayou Point event center after nearly three hours in executive session.

Several members of the committee expressed their thanks to Dr. Jim Henderson, chair of the search committee, members of the UL System staff and ULM staff for making the search process as smooth as possible under the circumstances of COVID-19.

"I was very impressed with each of the six folks that were selected for this portion of this process," said attorney Dennis Blunt, one of several non-voting ULM alumni representatives on the search committee. "To each of candidates, thank you for your interest in being a part of an institution that I care a lot about, and I wish we could have six presidents."

Mark Romero, chair of the UL System board thanked the members of the search committee, "I was certainly very impressed with the openness and objectivity that was put forth in the thought process. Your patience, endurance, and determination will be very well remembered by the members of this board."

Romero continued, "I want to thank the University and northeast Louisiana for welcoming us through this process. It is certainly my regret that we could not have a lot more community participation, but know that in this time we did the right thing through this process. We look forward to making a decision at the board level and installing the next president of UL Monroe, and certainly look forward to the prosperity, progress and the success that I know will come from that decision."

Finalists will be interviewed by the full University of Louisiana System Board on Thursday, August 27 in Baton Rouge.
