The Children's Coalition Provides Expecting Mothers Free Services With Their New Program More 4 U

The Children's Coalition of Northeast Louisiana has started a new healthy pregnancy and parenting program for pregnant teens and their families in Morehouse and Union Parishes called More 4 U. The program is from 5:30-8 p.m. every other Tuesday, beginning tomorrow, with two separate locations.

The Union Parish location is at Union General Hospital on 901 James Avenue in Farmervillle. The Morehouse Parish location is at Morehouse General Hospital on 323 W. Walnut Avenue in Bastrop.

The Children's Coalition is a local non-profit dedicated to solving critical issues related to youth and children in our area, facilitating change by bringing people together, and providing programs to meet the community's needs. Some of their popular programs include Early Head Start and Healthy Living.

More 4 U is the organization's newest program. Caitlyn Blakely, project manager from the Children's Coalition, says, "We want to help create a better environment for everyone. For the mom who is going to be giving birth as well as the baby who is going to be raised in the environment to have the best outcome and chances in life."

The Coalition wants to invite all expecting-mothers in the area at any stage of pregnancy to their program. All services provided at More 4 U are free and include free pre-natal care and advice from Dr. Tonya Hunter, dinner, and nurturing parent classes.
