Never A Dull Place, Alabama Is Roiled By Political Scandals

Alabama is known for college athletics and aggressively courting business investment. Now, it may be known for political scandal. Three of its top elected officials are in political hot water.

House Speaker Michael Hubbard goes on trial today for corruption. Meanwhile, Governor Robert Bentley faces possible impeachment for inappropriate conduct with a female aide.  Also, state supreme court chief justice, Roy Moore, could lose his job for defying federal court rulings on same-sex marriage.

Alabama historian Wayne Flynt tells Here & Now’s Robin Young that people in Alabama are “prepared for the very worst, and I think they’re probably going to get the very worst.”
