Panel Round One

MIKE PESCA, HOST:

We want to remind everyone to join us most weeks at the Chase Bank Auditorium right here in Chicago, Ill. For tickets and more information, go to wbez.org, and you can find a link at our website a waitwait.npr.org. Right now, panel, time for you to answer some questions about this week's news. Bobcat, when flying a commercial airliner, you often see a dog as an emotional support animal. Occasionally, you'll even see a cat. Well, this week, a Delta passenger took what animal with him on his flight for emotional support?

BOBCAT GOLDTHWAIT: A wolverine.

(LAUGHTER)

PESCA: I'll give you a hint - (gobbling).

ROXANNE ROBERTS: What?

GOLDTHWAIT: An Ewok?

(LAUGHTER)

GOLDTHWAIT: Charo (ph)? Charo. Roxanne, what is it?

(LAUGHTER)

GOLDTHWAIT: Oh, now...

ROBERTS: I know this.

GOLDTHWAIT: Well, then just tell me.

MO ROCCA: Oh, wait a minute...

ROBERTS: It's not Thanksgiving.

GOLDTHWAIT: Oh, a turkey.

PESCA: A turkey - it is a turkey.

(SOUNDBITE OF BELL)

GOLDTHWAIT: Thank you.

PESCA: The man was reportedly allowed to bring the turkey onboard as a therapy pet because it was an emotional support animal. It's so cute. It had one of those vests saying support animal, do not pet or baste.

(LAUGHTER)

PESCA: And a turkey's great if you're one of those people who can't sleep on planes because when the tryptophan kicks in, it's no problem.

ROCCA: So it was on its lap? Was it, like, in a...

PESCA: I think he bought a seat for the turkey.

ROCCA: Oh, OK, all right, that's fine then.

GOLDTHWAIT: Well...

ROBERTS: So sort of a side dish.

PESCA: Yeah, exactly.

ROCCA: Your turkey rides free.

GOLDTHWAIT: If you're going to bring a bird on a plane that may crash...

PESCA: Yeah.

GOLDTHWAIT: ...Why a flightless bird?

ROCCA: I know, that's a great point.

(LAUGHTER)

GOLDTHWAIT: You want something that you can grab on.

PESCA: Yeah.

ROCCA: A Condor.

GOLDTHWAIT: Yeah...

PESCA: Yeah.

GOLDTHWAIT: ...Something with a wingspan.

(SOUNDBITE OF MUSIC)

PESCA: Coming up, meet cute and meet ugly, it's Bluff The Listener. Call 1-888-WAIT-WAIT to play. We'll be back in a minute with more of WAIT WAIT DON'T TELL ME from NPR.
