Walsworth, Hunter Re-Elected; Clampit Ousts Calhoun in OPPJ Race

There were few surprises in legislative district races and local elections across northeast Louisiana Saturday.

In Senate District 33:  With 62 percent, Senator Mike Walsworth (R-West Monroe) wins re-election, turning back a challenge from former U.S. Congressman Vance McAllister

In Senate District 35:  With 53 percent of the vote, Rep. Jim Fannin (R-Jonesboro) defeats Stewart Cathey, Jr. (R-Monroe) in replacing retired Sen. Robert Kostelka

In Senate District 29:  Businessman Jay Luneau (D) pulls 59 percent to defeat Joshua Dara, Sr. (R) to replace Sen. Rick Gallot, who did not seek re-election

House District 17 Rep. Marcus Hunter wins re-election outright with 62 percent.  Hunter (D-Monroe) held off Heath Albritton (R-West Monroe), and Billye Burns (D-West Monroe) 

BESE District 5:  With 62 percent of the vote, Gary Jones (R-Alexandria) defeats Johnny Fatheree (R-Farmerville)

In Ouachita Parish, incumbent Clerk of Court Louise Bond (D-Monroe) won re-election, defeating Assistant District Attorney Madeleine Slaughter (NP-Monroe) by a 60-40 margin

Ouachita Parish Police Jury-District B: Businessman Jack Clampit (R-West Monroe) gains 53 percent of the vote to oust longtime juror Mack Calhoun (R-West Monroe)
