16-year-old arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder

On May 17, shortly before 5:30 a.m., the Monroe Police Department dispatched officers to the corner of Winnsboro Road and Mississippi Street after there was an alert of a shooting.

A 16-year victim was found at the scene with a gunshot wound to the head. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

During the investigation, police arrested a 16-year-old suspect and charged him with second-degree murder. He is currently being held at the Green Oaks Detention Center.
