AWS walk against sexual assault

In consideration of April as Sexual Awareness Month, the Ambitious Women Society is hosting its second annual Walk Against Sexual Assault on Monday, April 11 at 5:30 p.m. beginning in the Quad. T-shirt sales for the walk will begin at 4:30 p.m.

Last year the walk took place at Forsythe Park, but this year the organization has decided to change the location to campus as a homage to the numerous sexual assaults that have taken place on university grounds across the country. Statistically, 26.4% of undergraduate female students will be sexually assaulted on campus every year. However, it is estimated that only 20% of sexual assaults are reported by females. Men that are sexually assaulted on campus have a statistic of 6.8% of cases that are reported. The primary goal for the Ambitious Women Society is to diminish the figures by raising awareness.

AWS is inviting faculty, staff, and students to participate in the monumental and empowering walk that is inclusive of the on-campus community.
