On October 28, the Western District of Louisiana’s Civil Division Chief Shannon T. Smitherman received the United States Attorney’s Director’s Award for Excellence in a Managerial or Supervisory Role.

“Our Office’s work is only possible through our nearly 100 employees going above and beyond in service of our shared mission to make our home a better place. Shannon embodies that shared dedication and mission-oriented mindset,” said U.S. Attorney Zachary A. Keller. “This past year saw the Western District’s civil caseload unexpectedly increase by roughly 600%, and Shannon, as Civil Chief, organized and led the Office’s response. This award reflects Shannon’s remarkable capacities as a supervisor to Assistant U.S. Attorneys and professional staff, as a mentor training new Assistant U.S. Attorneys, and as a manager with the vision, skill, and work ethic required to meet this challenge.”
