United States District Judge sentenced Sean Meeks, of Lake Charles, to 400 months in federal prison for Conspiracy to Distribute Child Pornography, followed by 15 years of supervised release. Meeks previously pled guilty in May 2026.
“Federal criminal law rightly punishes recidivist child sex predators severely, and Judge Cain’s 400-month sentence of Sean Meeks shows the consequences when these predators choose to continue engaging in this heinous criminal conduct,” said U.S. Attorney Zachary A. Keller.
“Our Office works alongside our federal, state, and local law enforcement partners every day to investigate and prosecute these crimes, and we will continue prioritizing cases involving recidivists like Mr. Meeks and seeking severe penalties when we bring defendants like him into court.”
“This 400-month sentence sends a clear message: those who exploit children will be identified, investigated, and held accountable for their actions. This defendant’s prior conviction and continued criminal conduct demonstrate the serious threat posed by repeat offenders,” said Homeland Security Investigations New Orleans Special Agent Wright.
According to court documents, investigators with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office in Texas identified Meeks as the administrator of an online messaging group where illegal child sexual content was being exchanged. Undercover detectives working online observed Meeks directing the group’s activities, communicating with chatroom members, and distributing illicit material. Law enforcement was able to trace the online account activity to Meeks, who was residing in Lake Charles when this conduct occurred.
After law enforcement arrested Meeks on April 17, 2025, investigators conducted a forensic analysis of his smartphone and were able to verify his connection to the online group. In particular, his device contained the same online accounts observed by investigators and also contained 17 videos and two images depicting child sexual abuse that had appeared in the same form as in the chat room. The investigation further uncovered Meeks’s prior conviction for possession of child pornography in Vernon Parish in 2007.
