Louisiana Blue Foundation 2026 Angel Award Gala

The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana Foundation (Louisiana Blue Foundation) holds the Angel Award on Monday, October 19th, at the Renaissance Baton Rouge Hotel, 7000 Bluebonnet Blvd., in Baton Rouge. Media can begin arriving at 5:00 p.m. for pre-event interviews; the program begins at 6:30 p.m.

The Angel Award gala honors nine Louisiana physicians committed to improving the health and well-being of children. The Angel Award honors these acts with recognition and resources, empowering honorees to continue making a lasting impact. This year, the Foundation will make a $30,000 grant to a local nonprofit chosen by each honoree.

“Across Louisiana, there are people who see a need in the lives of children and choose to do something about it,” said Michael Tipton, president of the Louisiana Blue Foundation. “Our 2026 Angels have turned personal experiences and a commitment to their communities into meaningful action. We are honored to recognize the important work they are leading across our state.”

The Angel Award Honorees include: Julia Bourgeois of Sulphur, Tara Detiveaux of Houma, Toccara Huckaby of Shreveport, Terrence Jones of Lafayette, Kristen Powers of Shreveport, Melanie Richardson of New Orleans, Jordan Tabor of Baton Rouge, and Joey Vining of Houma.

The Louisiana Blue Foundation recognizes a Blue Angel each year, highlighting a Louisiana Blue employee who has made a difference in the lives of children through volunteer service outside of their professional role. This year’s Blue Angel is Desiree Robertson of St. Gabriel, a senior communications strategist in the Strategic Communications division.

The event will be streamed live starting at 6:30 p.m. The livestream will be available on the foundation's Facebook page at www.facebook.com/LABlueFoundation.

Kaileah Calloway is a sophomore attending the University of Louisiana Monroe majoring in communication.
