As a cold front approaches, unfortunately so does fire weather concerns. On Thursday, October 15, 2026, the National Weather Service issued a briefing concerning upcoming weather risks, especially regarding portions of Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma.
Dry conditions are expected to continue across the region throughout the next week, with little to no rain expected within the next 7 days. Some heat relief will be seen thanks to the approaching cold front, but it also brings strong winds and low humidity conditions to the area, which will increase fire weather concerns. Wind gusts will reach 30+ mph, with critically dry fuels and relative humidity of 25-40%.
People are encouraged to avoid open flames or sparks, and to keep vehicles off dry grass. They are also asked to properly discard cigarettes to avoid accidentally causing a fire.
Wildfire threats will increase on Friday, October 16th, and extend into portions of the area on Saturday. Drought conditions worsen across the region throughout the week, particularly across the northern zones.
In the coming week, Monroe will see temperature drop within the 40s, with the lowest expected temperature reaching 46 degrees. Surrounding areas will see similar results.
