Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry joined ConnectLA, the Office of Louisiana Highway Construction, and the Louisiana Department of Health to invest in building stronger rural communities.
ConnectLA leads Louisiana's effort to close the digital divide through its GUMBO program, deploying more than $1.53 billion in federal broadband funding and projecting $400 million in consumer savings for families over the next four years.
The Office of Louisiana Highway Construction advances the state's highway and bridge construction program, with 152 road and bridge projects underway as part of its $580 million infrastructure effort.
The Louisiana Department of Health Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP) serves 1.1 million rural residents through a multi-year, $1.4 billion initiative to improve access, quality, sustainability, and innovation across rural health care systems statewide.
“Rural Louisiana has helped build this country and power its industries for generations. We want our young people across Louisiana to see a future here. They should be able to earn a good living, raise a family, and build a life in the communities that raised them," said Governor Jeff Landry. "Together, these investments can strengthen rural communities, expand opportunities, and make sure families can build futures right here in Louisiana.”
Elected officials and community leaders support the significance of this project for rural Louisiana.
State Representative Rhonda Gaye Butler said, "When we invest in rural Louisiana, the entire state benefits. The Louisiana Rural Caucus focuses on ensuring communities have what they need to succeed, and these investments help turn that commitment into progress and results."
Louisiana's investment in broadband, infrastructure, and rural health reflects a sustained commitment to ensuring every community across the state has the resources needed to grow and compete.
