Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser was chosen to "tap the keg" at the 98th Annual New Orleans Oktoberfest held on Friday, October 9th, at 6:00 p.m. at the Deutsches Haus in New Orleans.

Oktoberfest is a traditional beer festival celebrating the rich culture, language, music, and traditions of the German heritage. "Tapping the keg" officially starts the ceremony; This will mark the third consecutive year Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser has been chosen to officially “tap the keg.” Nungesser, a lifetime member of Deutsches Haus, will be joined by other dignitaries for the opening ceremonies. At the conclusion, the crowd will sing a rousing chorus of “Rosamunde” (Roll out the Barrel), and Lt. Governor Nungesser will tap the ceremonial keg.

This event is open to the public with activities for all ages. Admission is $10 at the gate; children 12 and under are free. The whole Oktoberfest accepts cash or credit cards.
