The Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections invites the public to attend the Fall Hobbycraft Fair at Elayn Hunt Correctional Center on October, 24, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This event marks the return of the facility's hobbycraft fair after an extended hiatus.
The free event will feature a variety of handmade items created by incarcerated individuals at EHCC, including artwork, furniture, leatherwork, jewelry, and more. Jambalaya and soft drinks will also be available for purchase.
"We decided to bring the Hobbycraft Fair back because of the quality of work being produced by the men at EHCC," said Warren Travis Day. "We're looking forward to welcoming the public to see the craftsmanship firsthand and giving these individuals an opportunity to showcase the skills and creativity they've developed through the hobbycraft program."
The fair is a cashless event. All purchases must be made by debit or credit card and will be processed through Square. Applicable sales tax will be charged.
Visitors should park at the facility's front gate, where EHCC will provide transportation to and from the designated shopping area inside the secure perimeter. Restrooms will be available in the visitor intake building at the front gate but will not be available to the public inside the secure perimeter.
Guests are prohibited from bringing contraband or other restricted items onto facility grounds, including weapons, alcohol, and cellphones.
Appropriate attire is required. EHCC staff reserve the right to deny entry to individuals whose attire does not comply with facility visitation and security requirements. Prohibited clothing includes crop tops, shorts, sleeveless shirts, leggings, and overly tight or revealing clothing.
Elayn Hunt Correctional Center is located at 6925 Highway 74 in St. Gabriel, Louisiana.
