The Central Louisiana Supports and Services Center is collaborating with Kalogon

Central Louisiana Supports and Services Center is a large Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) intermediate care facility for individuals with intellectual disabilities in Alexandria. This care center provides specialized health care, therapeutic, educational, and residential services for medically complex, orthopedic, and neurologically involved children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Many individuals served by CLSSC rely on highly customized seating systems integrated with manual or power wheelchairs to maintain postural support, positively impact their health, protect skin integrity, access daily living activities, and achieve essential mobility within their home, instructional, job training, recreational, and community environments.

During a recent evaluation clinic, representatives from Kalogon joined CLSSC’s seating team to gain firsthand insight into the complex challenges involved in seating individuals with multifaceted medical and musculoskeletal disabilities. CLSSC’s team emphasizes that they “live with their decisions,” as individuals often utilize the wheelchair their entire waking day.

The Complex Rehab Technology program, partnering with Kalogon, a leading manufacturer of smart seating solutions, will help those in need. CLSSC’s mission is to ensure every individual receives seating and mobility solutions tailored to their specific and complex needs, as well as to facilitate access to their daily activities, environment, and community.

Kalogon’s team shared their commitment to advancing “smart seating” technology designed for individuals who sit for long periods of time and live an active seated life. They expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity to connect with CLSSC’s evaluation team and learn from their expertise.
