LPB Showcases the Richness and Culture of Louisiana History

LPB showcases two new programs that dive into the culture and richness of Louisiana history. Discussing events, communities and institutions that make Louisiana the divine state that it is.

On Monday, March 9 at 7:00pm, LA64: The Journey Begins revisits specific moments from the first four episodes of LPB’s new travel series, LA64, while offering a brief look ahead as the journey continues statewide in April. The special captures a sense of place through the voices and perspectives of residents featured along the journey so far.

On Tuesday, March 10 at 7:00pm, Louisiana’s HBCUs: An American Legacy brings together three short films produced in partnership with the HBCU Week NOW project. The program explores the lasting impact of Historically Black Colleges and Universities across Louisiana, from the traditions of the Bayou Classic, which is an annual college football rivalry game, to the founding mission of the Southern University Law Center and the cultural legacy of the Alvin Batiste Jazz Institute.

“These programs highlight the depth and diversity of Louisiana’s communities,” said LPB Director of Programming Jason Viso. “Through both broadcast and streaming, we are able to connect local stories to a broader national audience.”

Kaileah Calloway is a sophomore attending the University of Louisiana Monroe majoring in communication.
