The Postal Service is ready for the busiest week of 2025

LOUISIANA — The United States Postal Service is preparing for the peak of the 2025 holiday season, with customer traffic expected to be the highest of the year. Customers are encouraged to mail gifts and holiday greetings as early as possible to ensure delivery before Christmas.

Holiday Service Schedule

Post Offices nationwide will be closed on Christmas Day (Dec. 25) and New Year’s Day (Jan. 1, 2026). Regular service resumes Dec. 26 and Jan. 2. Hours may vary by location; visit usps.com/holidayhours for details.

Key Shipping Deadlines

Contiguous U.S.:

  • Dec. 17 — Ground Advantage & First-Class Mail
  • Dec. 18 — Priority Mail
  • Dec. 20 — Priority Mail Express

Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico & U.S. Territories:

  • Dec. 16 — Ground Advantage
  • Dec. 17 — First-Class Mail
  • Dec. 18 — Priority Mail
  • Dec. 20 — Priority Mail Express

Preparations for Peak Season

USPS has expanded processing capacity, modernized facilities, added new delivery vehicles and strengthened its workforce to handle increased holiday volume. Services include Ground Advantage, Priority Mail, and Priority Mail Express, with tracking and insurance on most shipments.
