Barksdale Air Force Base conducts planned controlled detonations for demolition operations

BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE, La. – Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Airmen assigned to the 2nd Bomb Wing at Barksdale Air Force Base will conduct multiple controlled detonations as part of scheduled demolition operations on Monday, Dec. 15, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

During this time, residents in the surrounding areas may hear loud noises associated with the detonations. Base officials emphasize that these activities are pre-planned, carefully managed, and safely executed by trained professionals. There is no risk to public safety related to these operations.

The controlled detonations are a routine part of maintaining base infrastructure and ensuring operational readiness. Barksdale Air Force Base appreciates the continued support and understanding of community members as these necessary activities are carried out.
