Monroe-West Monroe to Host 2026 NWBA Wheelchair Basketball National Championships

Monroe-West Monroe, Louisiana, has been chosen as the host city for the 2026 National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) National Championships. This event will bring together top wheelchair basketball athletes from across the country to compete at the highest level.

The top 16 ranked wheelchair basketball teams in each Adult Division (I, II, and III) will earn an invitation to their respective national tournaments, scheduled for March 26–29, 2026.

One week prior, the top 32 ranked Varsity teams and the top 16 ranked Prep teams will be invited to compete in the NWBA Varsity and Prep Wheelchair Basketball National Championships, taking place March 19–22, 2026.

In total, 96 teams and more than 1,300 wheelchair basketball athletes will compete for a coveted national title across the two championship weekends.

Hosting the NWBA National Championships is expected to have a substantial positive impact on the local economy, attracting visitors and showcasing the area's hospitality and amenities. Local officials and organizers have expressed their enthusiasm for the opportunity to support adaptive sports and celebrate the talent and determination of wheelchair basketball athletes.
