NEW ORLEANS – Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser will be hosting the 2024 Aerospace States Association (ASA) annual meeting and policy summit in New Orleans from June 24-27, 2024. Lieutenant Governor Nungesser succeeds Colorado Lt. Governor Dianne Primavera as ASA national chair and will welcome approximately 50 attendees including lieutenant governors as well as representatives from aerospace industries such as Airbus, Boeing, and Lockheed Martin.
“Louisiana is a key player in the aerospace industry with the NASA facility at Michoud. We want to highlight support for programs at our vo-tech schools. By growing our vo-tech program, we can attract talent to the aerospace industry,” said Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser. “I’m honored to serve as chair and host the members of ASA in New Orleans where we can showcase our aerospace facility as interest in space exploration grows. We will also share our food, culture, and history with the ASA members. I hope this visit inspires them to make additional trips back to explore all we have to offer.”
Besides discussions on space tourism, workforce development, and other related topics, attendees will tour the NASA Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans as well as the NASA Stennis Space Center in Mississippi.
This will be the fifth State Aerospace Policy Summit held. Lt. Governor Nungesser joins the leadership team of Virginia Lt. Governor Winsome Earle-Sears as Vice-Chair, Guam Lt. Governor Joshua Tenorio as Secretary, and Mal McGhee of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians as Treasurer.
The Aerospace States Association (ASA) is a non-partisan organization comprised of Lieutenant Governors, Governor-appointed delegates, state legislators, territorial and tribal government representatives, and associate members from aerospace organizations and academia working to advance aerospace and aviation in member states and throughout the nation. ASA is the only aerospace advocacy organization promoting State based perspectives in federal aerospace & aviation policy development.
