90.3 KEDM Public Radio, Monroe Chamber of Commerce, West Monroe West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce and the ULM Student Government Association to host Candidate Forum

90.3 KEDM Public Radio, Monroe Chamber of Commerce, West Monroe-West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce, and the University of Louisiana Student Government Association will host 5th District Candidate Forum October 20th at 6pm. “The Monroe Chamber of Commerce is proud to join with our community partner organizations to make this forum possible. It is critical that the voters of Northeast Louisiana have an opportunity to meet these candidates in person and hear directly from them.” said Roy Heatherly, president and CEO of the Monroe Chamber

The Candidate Forums will be an opportunity for residents, business, and community leaders to meet the candidates running for Louisiana’s 5th District in the U.S. House of Representatives. The forum will be held live on the 7th Floor of ULM’s Library, broadcast on 90.3 KEDM, and shared live on Facebook.

"The University of Louisiana Monroe Student Government Association is proud to partner with the West Monroe and Monroe Chamber of Commerce and KEDM in hosting Louisiana's 5th Congressional District Forum. ULM SGA works to ensure that our students understand the importance of voting, become familiar with key issues that impact them, and encourage all students to exercise their right to vote.” Said Ethan Estis ULM SGA President “Moreover, our community members and students need to hear directly from the candidates regarding their stances on issues facing voters throughout Louisiana's 5th Congressional District. We look forward to this momentous forum and invite all students to attend."

All candidates who have qualified for the upcoming election have been invited to attend the forum. Candidates will each make an opening statement, answer a limited number of questions, and make a closing statement as to why he or she can best represent Louisiana's 5th District in Washington, D.C. The forum will be moderated by Cory Crowe of 90.3 KEDM Public Radio. "KEDM is proud to provide a chance to meet the candidates in this important race for northeast Louisiana. We're so grateful for partners like the Chambers and ULM SGA." said Jay Curtis, General Manager of 90.3 KEDM.

These forums are free and open to the general public, but seating is available on a first come, first serve basis. The event will be live streamed on Facebook @westmonroechamber for those that cannot attend in person and would like to watch the video feed of the forum. “The Chamber reminds all voters that early voting for the November 8th election starts on October 25th.
