Former Mississippi officer sentenced for sex abuse of minor

A former Mississippi police officer who a prosecutor says abused his position of authority to prey on a young girl has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to statutory rape. The man was identified as 52-year-old Todd King of Brandon. He pleaded guilty to one count of statutory rape and one count of gratification of lust Monday. King was sentenced Tuesday to multiple years in prison. Prosecutors did not disclose the victim’s age. King will also permanently surrender his law enforcement credentials and be required to register as a sex offender. Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch says her office conducted the investigation and prosecution.
