Local law enforcement members awarded Louisiana State Police Lifesaving Award

Crash scene
Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office

On March 29, 2021, Ouachita Parish Sheriff Deputies Casey Albritton and Chris Lambert responded to a reported head-on collision on Desiard Road/U. S. Hwy. 80 in Monroe. Deputy Lambert was first on the scene in less than one minute and found that one of the vehicles was on fire. Deputy Casey Albritton arrived shortly afterwards as did Louisiana State Trooper Darren Ragland.

Using their fire extinguishers, these three officers were able to control the fire long enough to pull the driver, who was injured and trapped inside, from the burning vehicle. The life of the driver was ultimately saved through their combined efforts. The accident was worked by Louisiana State Police.

On Wednesday, May 25, 2022 the Louisiana State Police recognized Trooper Ragland and Deputies Lambert and Albritton for their efforts at scene by presenting them the Louisiana State Police Lifesaving Award at a ceremony at the LSP Training Academy in Baton Rouge.
