Louisiana Parishes Issue Boil Water Advisories, 911 Services Down After Hurricane Ida

Boil water advisories were issued and 911 services were down across southeast Louisiana following what officials are saying is catastrophic damage in the wake of Hurricane Ida.

People with emergencies are being asked to go to their nearest police or fire station or flag down officers as they see them. Some parishes have provided alternate numbers to call public safety officials.

Jefferson Parish announced a curfew from 6 a.m. Monday morning through 6 a.m. Tuesday.

“All residents are advised to stay off the roads as there are many hazards,” officials said in a statement. “President Lee Sheng will advise if the curfew has to be extended once damages have been assessed and rescue operations have been completed.”

Residents in New Orleans and Jefferson Parish are being asked to conserve water to prevent sewer systems from backing up.

Local leaders are using Facebook and Twitter as the primary mode of communication with residents.

Here is the latest.
