City of Monroe to soon begin Searching for New Director of Planning & Urban Development

Monroe Mayor Jamie Mayo announced today that Planning and Urban Development Director Chris Fisher has resigned his position effective Friday, October 13th, 2017. Fisher had served as PUD Director since 2008.

Mayo said, “There have been a number of advancements in the department during Fisher’s term; including, but not limited to, an update of the comprehensive plan for the City of Monroe and zoning changes. The Flight the Blight effort was also initiated under Fisher’s watch.”

Chief Operations Officer Jimmie Bryant will serve as the interim department head.

Mayo said there will be a national search for the next Director of Planning and Urban Development. He said, “We will move as swiftly as possible to continue the economic development and growth for the City of Monroe”.
