Sarita’s Grill & Cantina in Denham Springs was one of the first establishments to announce they would no longer air NFL games after about 200 players throughout the league refused to stand for the national anthem Sunday. General Manager Tony Melara says he is an immigrant who was not born here, but his family takes great pride in what the American flag stands for.
Melara says since this decision to boycott NFL games was made public via their Facebook page they have received both positive and negative responses from their supporters. However, he says it isn’t unusual that they would receive backlash and was prepared for the little business he may lose on Sunday.
