Motorcyclist Killed in Lincoln Parish Crash
Shortly after 3:45 p.m. on January 25, 2017, Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a single-vehicle crash on Garr Road approximately 2 miles north of Grambling.
The preliminary investigation revealed a 2005 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, driven by 50-year-old Jeffery Harvey of Ruston, LA, was traveling west on Garr Road. For unknown reasons, the motorcycle traveled off the left side of the road and struck several small trees. Harvey, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene by the Lincoln Parish Coroner’s Office.
Routine toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
Motorcyclists must wear a proper US D.O.T. approved helmet when operating a motorcycle on Louisiana roadways. Although not all crashes are survivable, properly utilizing safety equipment like approved motorcycle helmets and seat belts decrease your risk of serious injury or death.
Motorcycle awareness license plates are available through the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles. Please visit their website at www.expresslane.org for more information. Funds generated from the purchase of the plates will be used by the Motorcycle Awareness Campaign to increase awareness and promote/support training and education efforts for motorcyclists.
