Ouachita Green hosts Household Hazardous Waste recycling event

Ouachita Green's Annual Household Hazardous Waste Event, will take place at the Ike Hamilton Expo Center in West Monroe on March 14 from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Residents of Ouachita Parish will come together to responsibly dispose of various household items, including hazardous materials and electronic waste. The event is designed to offer a safe and eco-friendly method for eliminating potentially harmful substances, while also encouraging recycling initiatives within the community.

Accepted Items: Aerosol cans, antifreeze, batteries, bulbs, cardboard, cellphones, clothing. computers, cooking oil, dishwashers, dryers, epoxy, fire-extinguishers, freezers, freon tanks, furniture, glass bottle/jars, helium tanks, household chemicals, mercury, monitors, motor oils, paints (latex & oil-based; limit 10 gallons per household), paper, pesticides, plastics (1 & 2), pool chemicals, prescription drugs, printers, propane tanks (BBQ style), refrigerators, scrap metal, sharp containers, smoke detectors, stains, stoves, TVs, varnishes, washers, waterproofing sealants.

Shredding Services: Limit 3 boxes per household

Tires: 5 per household (no rims)

Prohibited items: Ammunition, compressed gas cylinders, explosives, mattresses, plastic bags, plumbing fixtures, pool liners, radioactive material, styrofoam, water hoses.

The event is a complimentary drive-through service available to all households in Ouachita Parish. Business waste will not be accepted. Donations are welcomed. The event will occur in the left side parking lot of the Ike Hamilton Expo Center, with the queue beginning on Pavilion Road, West Monroe, LA.
